Cake Trend: Dark Wedding Cakes
You can't talk about white wedding cake trends without mentioning the evil twin sister, the black wedding cake! Once taboo to have any black or dark colors in your wedding, brides are now tossing aside tradition and bringing in the those rich tones like deep purple, blues, greens, greys and of course black! Dark is in!
To incorporate this look into your wedding without getting too "heavy" visually, add in some pops of color like fuchsia or turquoise. Metallics go great with dark colors so don't be afraid to incorporate gold or silver! Go overboard with textures that are rich and luxurious and you'll have your guests swooning over the details.

For flavors, you can't beat a nice black velvet chocolate cake. Opt for a recipe that uses dutch cocoa powder for that deep rich color. I made this black textures wedding cake with a pop of pink fuchsia easy buttercream. I colored it with Artisan Accents Chameleon chocolate colors to get that super bright color!

About this cake:
"I am already obsessed with textures and I love the latest trend of dark cakes because it really gives you a chance to make the cake more about textures than colors. At first glance you think wow that cake is so dramatic and dark but then you see that really it's got a lot going on but it's all in the details. I love that brides are moving more towards non-traditional colors like navy, dark purple and black for weddings"
