What you can make

Every one of these is a full step-by-step tutorial inside Sugar Geek University and this is just a small sample of what I have for you to start learning.
What's inside
Over 170 step-by-step tutorials, grouped by the kind of cake you want to make. Start wherever you like - every path opens with tutorials that are free to watch, no account needed.
- Sculpted Cakes. Animals and characters, faces and busts, showpieces, and the structure that holds them up. From your first sea turtle to a Princess Mononoke showpiece.
- Realistic Cakes. Burgers, pizza, beer, blackberries. The ones people refuse to believe are cake.
- Wedding Cakes. Tiers that survive the car, the warm room and four hours on a table - plus the finishes people photograph.
- Celebration Cakes. Birthdays, showers and holidays, grouped by the kind of cake you have been asked to make.
- Full tutorials, not clips. Most run 45 to 90 minutes, start to finish, nothing skipped.
- Recipes and structure that hold up. The batters, fillings and internal supports I actually use.
- Something new every month. A full tutorial, a behind-the-scenes, a short technique video or a photo tutorial.
- Browse every tutorial A to Z. The complete list of titles, free and members only, in alphabetical order.
The library also covers sugar flowers, cookies, chocolate and sugarwork, with more paths going up as I organize them.
Who is teaching you

Hi, I'm Liz Marek. I have been teaching cake decorating since 2008, and every technique on this page is one I use on camera.
I won Netflix's Is It Cake? Holiday 2 with a hyperrealistic Santa, and I have competed on Food Network's Halloween Wars, Super Mega Cakes, Duff Till Dawn and Ridiculous Cakes. In 2022 I was inducted into the I.C.E.S. Hall of Fame, and Cake Masters Magazine named me one of the Top 10 Cake Artists in the USA.
None of that is a different skill set from what you are about to learn.

Questions people actually ask about our online cake decorating classes
Am I good enough to start?
If you can bake a cake and hold a knife, yes. The free lessons start with a sea turtle that is mostly carving. Watch one before you pay anything.
How much time does this take?
Give yourself a weekend per cake. There is no schedule and nothing expires.
What equipment do I need?
Every tutorial lists its materials up front. The early ones need a serrated knife, a turntable, and fondant or modeling chocolate. Structure and molds come later, when you need them.
What if I fall behind?
There is nothing to fall behind on. Nothing unlocks on a schedule, nothing disappears, and the whole library is there the day you join.
Do I get new tutorials, or just the back catalogue?
Both. The whole library is yours the day you join, and I add something new every month: a full tutorial, a behind-the-scenes, a short technique video, or a photo tutorial.
Can I cancel?
Any time, from your account. Yearly and monthly subscriptions can be canceled at any time.
Start with the tutorials that are free to watch. If you like how I teach, the rest is waiting.
